Perfect performance poetry

Year 5 have been learning about performance poetry. Last week, Mr V, Mrs Munn and Mrs Wilson helped the children to look at the features, different types of performance poetry (choral, individual and RAP) and  the work of a range of poets.  This week, the children have written their own poems.

Most of the children performed their poems this morning and some kindly agreed to be filmed. We are incredibly impressed by the content of everyone’s poems and the clarity of their performances. Very well done everyone.

Here is a link to the recorded performances. Enjoy!

Marvellous Maritime Museum

We had a brilliant day at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. We started our visit with a Viking workshop where we learned about different Viking boats, then developed our bartering skills by trading goods and finally dressed up a couple of children in Viking Clothing. We also spent some time in a giant ship, built on our map reading skills by using an interactive giant map and finished the trip by looking at some artifacts from the spice trade.

We were very impressed by the behaviour of the children and hope that they gained some ideas for their Viking projects as well as having a great day.
