Perfect performance poetry

Year 5 have been learning about performance poetry. Last week, Mr V, Mrs Munn and Mrs Wilson helped the children to look at the features, different types of performance poetry (choral, individual and RAP) and  the work of a range of poets.  This week, the children have written their own poems.

Most of the children performed their poems this morning and some kindly agreed to be filmed. We are incredibly impressed by the content of everyone’s poems and the clarity of their performances. Very well done everyone.

Here is a link to the recorded performances. Enjoy!

  1. Hello Year 5!

I have just watched your amazing poetry performances – I loved them! I hope you have had a good start to the new year. It is getting very cold here in Kazakhstan and our children are now going out to play in the snow every play time!

Is there any news on when the Elizabeth I film will be ready?

    Best Wishes,

    Miss Siddall

    • Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for your message. I will share it with year 5 tomorrow. They will be so pleased to hear from you. I can’t believe that you already have snow – it has rained a lot here today. We are hoping to get the finished product of the video in the next couple of weeks as it’s taken them a while to produce. We will let you know when it arrives.

If you want to skype with your class and mine, contact me via my email and we will set something up ( It’s good to hear from you- if I have time tomorrow, I will see if the class have any messages for you. Keep in touch- Nicky

  2. Hi Mrs Siddal I really miss you I really enjoyed learning with you it was great fun. I really hope to see you again. If you are not busy working I would to ask you some questions please. Is your school similar to our school? Do you have school dinners at your school? Do you even know what they are? Thank you for reading this.

P.S. please answer some of the questions. What are some of you pupils names and is you school a mixed school or is it just boy’s or girls.

    • Hi Macey,

Lovely to hear from you. For some reason I only got the email saying you had replied last week, not back in November!

There are some things that are similar about our school, but lots that are different too – we have nearly 600 pupils at our school as it goes all the way from Year 1 to Year 13, and there are three classes in each year group in the primary school.

We do have school dinners, and almost all of our children eat school dinners; only a couple have packed lunches.

We have boys and girls at the school. Lots of them come from Kazakhstan and have traditional Kazakh names such as Botagoz (girl’s name) and Arman (boy’s name). There are also pupils from other countries as well, including England, whose names would be more familiar to you.

I hope you enjoyed the holidays and you’re settling back in well for Term 2!
